Administering Emergency Medical Gases

QA Level 3 Aware in Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF) Fife First Aid Training

The QA Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Medical Gases (RQF) is training for those who have a responsibility for providing treatment to patients who require the administration of medical gasses.  This course is aimed at those working in the Private Ambulance Sector, Police Force and Fire Service.

The Course will provide the knowledge and skills required for the safe, prompt and effective administration of emergency oxygen and analgesic agents.  Topics covered on the course include pre-operational inspections, and how to monitor and record its effects.

This Course is recognised and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations (OfQual).


  • Understand the principles of administering oxygen in an emergency/be able to administer oxygen
  • Understand use of a combination of nitrous oxide 50% and oxygen 50%
  • Be able to administer 50:50 mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen in an emergency
